Municipal Volunteer Centers 

service: Many cities have Volunteer Centers. Do a web search of "volunteer center" and your location to find one near you. The San Francisco Volunteer Center provides the city with a centralized source of volunteer information including listings of groups that need volunteers.

The Foundation Center (San Francisco)

service: Independent nonprofit information clearinghouse. The Center's mission is to foster public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects. The audiences that call on the Center's resources include grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public.

The Tides Center (San Francisco)

service: The Tides Center serves as a bridge between funders and projects by providing a wide range of services including financial management, human resources management, grants and  contract administration and project management while encouraging projects to focus on their programmatic work.
